PUBLISH – Release 8.0

What is Publish?

difuzego Publish is a video and file sharing tool added to the difuzego platform which allows users to upload content themselves and use it to send out secure screener links for marketing, sales, or collaborative purposes. The tool leverages the same security features, viewing metrics and reporting capabilities that exist in the Share module, all while giving the user direct control of their content and allowing them to easily manage their personal library. Once you’ve uploaded your video content, an adaptive bitrate proxy is created, and you are now ready to send it for streaming purposes!

Permission Levels

There are 3 different permission levels in the Publish module.

  • Publish 1 - Upload & Create: The user can create screeners with assets they have uploaded themselves.
  • Publish 2 - Manage & Create: The user can create screeners with assets they have uploaded, or others in their organization have uploaded.
  • Publish 3 - Manage, Create & Configure: The user can create screeners from assets they have uploaded, or others in their organization have uploaded, ignore watermarks, search other's screeners, edit and delete other's uploads, edit the organization's watermark settings & edit or delete colleagues’ screeners.

*Permissions can only be administered or changed by users with an Account Administrator role.

Uploading Your Content

Uploading your content on Publish is easy. Simply access the Publish module and either drag and drop your content or select the file(s) you wish to upload. Each individual file cannot exceed 10GB.

Once you have selected the files you wish to upload, they will appear in a list in front of you, then simply click on the Upload button.

At this stage the files will begin to upload onto difuzego while you can monitor the estimated time remaining for each file.

Once the upload is completed you will be notified and can now navigate to the library page.

At this point the difuzego Publish module will begin automatically creating proxy files for any videos you have uploaded. During that time, you can consult the status for each file, and may navigate throughout difuzego’s different modules.

Once transcoding has completed, technical metadata will be auto populated, and you can proceed to either manage your library or immediately send out screeners.

Managing your library

Managing your assets is optional in Publish, but it is quick, easy and very useful when you have several different assets for a same title.

To begin, simply click on the details button of any of your files.

Then simply click on the edit button within the asset.

Here you will have the option to categorize your content, associate it to an existing title, rename the asset, associate it to a specific language, categorize it, add a specific note to it, enter supporting metadata (synopsis, genres, director, cast) and change the thumbnail.

If you wish to create a new title in order to associate assets to it, simply click on the Create a new title button from the library page and then input the associated details (ex: title, language, notes, promotional metadata).

Selecting your assets and titles

To select one or more assets, simply click on the + icon in the list view.

Once selected, you will have 3 options available to you:

  • Add to screener: This will pre-populate the assets into a screener and take you right to the screener creation page.
  • Associate to an existing title: This allows you to associate one or more assets to a title you or someone from account has already created.
  • Delete: This will allow you to permanently delete the assets selected.

Creating a screener

At anytime you can access the Screeners tab where you may create a new screener using assets at your disposal in the Publish module.

Once you select to create a new screener, much like in the Share module, simply fill in the form with the following information:

  • Subject: This is the name of the screener and will appear in the subject line of the screener email invitation.
  • Recipient(s): Enter the name, email addresses and company name for each of your recipients. You may also import a CSV file should you have a long list of recipients you wish to import.
  • Media Selection: Simply select the assets and/or titles that you wish to include in your screener. They must be assets available in your Publish library.
  • Message: Type out a message that you wish the recipients to receive in the email invitation. You may also brand the email with the logo of your choice, include attachments, as well as make the invitation appear in either English or French.
  • Viewing Restrictions: Within the configurations applied to your account, you may apply certain custom restrictions (ex: Start/end date, maximum viewing sessions, etc.)

Once you have completed the form, you may preview it, save it as a template for re-use and/or simply send it to your intended recipients.

Once sent, your recipients will receive an email inviting them to stream the content that you have sent them, and you will receive an email confirmation of the screener you have just sent.

Once your recipient(s) has viewed the content you have sent them, you may consult their viewing activity within the active screeners section of Publish.

Additional tools

In addition to the above, the Publish module offers many additional features.

  • Generate reports: Create customized Excel reports of your library which can include asset details and technical metadata. You can also create reports of screeners that have been send out based on your search criteria.
  • Save and load query: Save a specific search or report you made (ex: video files ranging between Jan 1st, 2020, and Dec 31st, 2020) and load that search again at any time.
  • Edit and delete screeners: Edit or delete your existing screeners and those of others with the Publish 3 permission.
  • Configure watermark settings: With the Publish 3 permission you may customize and change the watermark settings for the entire organization.
